About me
I paint to explore what I see and feel — and to question what we think we see.
I’m drawn to things that make me stop and look: a place, a person, an old painting or something happening in everyday life. I want to understand why it affects me, and how I can represent it in a way that makes someone else look again.
My work moves between reimagining familiar paintings and responding to contemporary life. Sometimes the starting point is a masterpiece; sometimes it’s a Nottingham street, a landmark or something in society that doesn’t sit comfortably with me.
I want my paintings to be more than what is painted. They might challenge an assumption, provoke a question or simply make someone see something familiar differently.
